Power master starter

Bout to hook up my power master starter in my 68 olds 442, motor has been out of the car for a while so I'm trying to remember what wires go where?

I know where the battery cable goes but there is purple wire 10 gauge or so and a yellow wire maybe 16 gauge or so.

I have the R terminal diode kit from power master and the instructions say to splice/crimp it to the R terminal wire from the vehicle.

Is the vehicle R terminal wire the smaller gauge yellow wire? I think it is but I just wanna be sure.

Thanks

The diode is polarity sensitive as it blocks voltage coming back to the starter from the distributor.

Eric do you have one in your car? If so how do you like it?

I just had the powermaster 9610 installed in my 76 350, it works great fires up instantly, Oldcutlass gave me the suggestion.... happy I purchased one now, threw me off at first, it just sounds different from the original. I like the weight difference as well.

I have a Powermaster mini starter and I love it, but I use a remote relay to power it and supply power to the distributor on startup. I don't trust the diodes. You need to make sure the starter to flex plate gear gaps are correct.
