Points to HEI

Hi everyone, doing a conversion from points to HEI on my 69 350 cutlass, what is the proper way of wiring it up?
Do you use the original power wire or do you have to run a new wire for more power?

The original pink wire adds resistance to the circuit to lower the voltage to the primary side of the ignition once the car is running. The wire must be replaced as the HEI needs full battery voltage.

Good luck!!!

I just cap the resistance wire from the bulkhead connector and run a 12ga wire from the IGN terminal on the fuse block to the BATT terminal on the Hei. You need to set your timing to 16* BTDC as the original timing setting is N/A for the Hei. Then you need to limit the vacuum advance to 10* and connect it to manifold vacuum.

Just to be clear, are you installing an HEI distributor or are you replacing the breaker points in your current distributor with an electronic conversion? Asking as some people mistakenly call the electronic conversion HEI.
