parking lamp and back up sockets
Gang,
My 1968 442 has loose sockets on both the front parking lamps and reverse lights. Is there a replacement? I have seen several "fixes" that do not look anything like what is currently on there. What have you all been using?
Mike

On my 69 I modified the rear tailamp housing to accept newer 2057 bulbs and sockets. If your carefl and take your time with a Dremel you can make them twist and lock lime the newer cars. The benefit of the newer sockets is the 3rd wire, which is a ground wire. The socket doesnt rely on grounding thru the housing.
On the front I opened up the holes so 2057 sockets will fit, and then epoxied the socket to the housong. Since the lens is easy to remove to replace the bulb, I feel this is a easy fix. The factory 1157 sockets are not designed to be removed from the housing and after almost 50 years the sockets are almost certainly corroded.

I bought two Dorman 85803 sockets and used the guts to fix the sockets on my 67 parking lights. I used everything but the housing and it worked fine. Been a couple years since I did the repair and still going.
