did they make more than one kind? i have one that has a remanufactured tag on it and not sure if it is one of the old originals or not. i don't even know for sure what one looks like to know thats what i have. i googled it and only seen one picture and mine look like it. i will get a picture of it soon.

 

i just found a number on it. 1100851 35amp anyone know what it is for by the number?

 

I can't find my listings right now but I am pretty sure that is a 68 or 69 and 35amp would be non AC.

would the rallye 350 have had an open face alternator?

 

that that I know of, from what I have researched 1969 Corvettes and 1970 Corvettes and 442s had open-faced internally regulated alternators

 

852 is for a 69 HO still haven't found what the 851 is for - maybe the 69 442 since it was a 400

 

The Rallye 350 and all Olds small blocks did not use the open face alternator. On Oldsmobiles, it was used in 1969 and 1970 on big block applications only.

anyone have any luck with this number. 1100851. i am going to put it on eBay but need to find out what it would be correct for. i tried to Google it but did not come up with anything other than replacement alternators.

 

can you put up a picture? 35 amp doesn't sound right. What is the date code? Does it have a slight lip on the open face or is it with no lip like stevengerard shows in his pics? I have a feeling it may be an industrial unit.

 

i found a couple of more numbers but not that one. 1100777 is a 55 Amp and a 1100880 is a 37 amp - both have date stamps that would work for 69/70 cars. I'm with stellar on this I believe most alts were either 37 or 55Amp, but who knows.

 

i looked again and it is a 32 amp. i am not sure if this is the date code but i found this by the part number ...4F26...
i will try to get a picture of it tomorrow.

 

So I am guessing it is an older alt based on the date stamp and that it is 32 amp

I would think any alternator made in 1974 would be higher amps but I have been wrong many a times before

 

probably a 1974 with an internal reg. Alts with internal regs were not made until late 1968. Industrial units had 32 amp applications and there will be a small lip on the open face. This won't be a true auto openface style. the auto type had no lip extending in towards the bearing, only spokes. I think this will have a small lip on it. If so it is definately an industrial alt, especially if it has a 32A stamp on it.
