No reverse or turn signals on my 66

This car has been an electrical nightmare of spliced and cut wires .
the only thing that worked when I got the car was headlights .
everything is now working other than wipers reverse lights and turn signals
i thought for sure my issue was the turn signal switch even though I had tail lights and brake lights .
my cancelling cam was broken so I ordered a whole new switch and replaced it but still no luck
i am no electrical expert by any means ... one of the worst jobs as far as I’m concerned lol
i have chased wires for the last week and noticed last night that I have a broken pin on the back of my dash circuit board
anyway to fix the pin first off ?

Start with the basics. I assume you have checked the fuse? Make sure you have power on both sides of the fuse.

On my 69, the reverse lamps and turn signals are both on the same fuse. With the ignition on, check for power at the blue wire (I think) on the reverse light switch. If you have power, use a fused jumper wire to jump the blue and green wires together, the reverse light should come on.

With the ignition on, check for power at the purple wire on the turn signal switch. No power? Remove the turn signal flasher. One terminal should show power with the ignition on, the other wire is power going out of the flasher to the turn signal switch. If you have power at the turn signal flasher, but not at the switch, replace the flasher.

Do you have power to the green wire at the NSS in reverse with the key on?

Then check for power on the yellow (left turn) and green(right turn) wires at the turn signal switch connector. I’m betting you have a defective switch. The yellow/green wires are for the turn signal feed, but the also provide power to the lamps when you hit the brakes. Since you have brake lights, the wiring and bulbs are good

Try pushing and pulling the **** for the 4 way flashers a few times. There is a switch inside the turn signal switch that isolated the front lighting from the rear ( you don’t want the front turn signal to come on when you step on the brakes).

I have had strange taillight lamp problems fixed by messing with the 4 way flasher ****. Maybe you will get lucky.

There were no 4 ways in 66, it wasn't until 67 that they became mandatory.

Actually that's not strange at all. The 4-way **** just moves contacts in the turn signal switch that bypass the turn/brake function and connect the lamps to the emergency flasher module. If the **** is only part way in or out, both sets of terminals make contact and the resulting circuit has multiple electrical paths. As noted, this doesn't apply to the OP's 1966 model.

Then your no reverse light problem is somewhere between the neutral safety switch and the reverse lights. Check the light green wire at the taillight connector in the trunk, eventually your going to find a point where the green wire no longer has power.

You have checked the bulbs and grounds at the sockets?

Well....

Actually, the Flare-Stat package was available as a dealer-installed option in 1965-66. It did not have the same partially actuated **** failure mode problem as the later factory units built into the turn signal switch, however.

In these situations a test light is my tool of choice. I'd jump straight to the backup light sockets and see if there is power there. Since the green wire has power that means the fuse is good.

No disrespect intended, but a test light is such a cheap and easy to use electrical tool. There is ZERO excuse for any self respecting automotive enthusiast to not own at least one. I’m amazed at people who attempt electrical work and don’t own one.
