I have a problem with the lights on my '78 delta 88 royale. When I turn them on, only the running lights come on, but if I mess with the dimmer switch and hold it just right, I can get either the low or high beams to come on. Once they warm up, the low will stay on, but it won't change to high. Eventually if I leave them alone, they turn on the high beams by themselves and they won't change back, but they flicker on and off as I drive. Also, as a side note, my heater blower works on low and the 2 medium settings, but it won't go to high. any help is appreciated

 

Sounds like 2 seperate issues, dimmer switch defective, and then you'll have to troubleshoot the fan.

 

Two separate problems, so let's do the easy one first. The heater blower runs through a relay on high only, so apparently the relay is bad. This relay is bolted to the HVAC box under the hood, just inboard of the blower motor. It's easy to replace. (note that this picture is from the bottom, you'll be looking at it from the top)



The headlight problem sounds like the dimmer switch. Is yours on the floor or on the column? The floor mounted unit is easy to replace. The column mounted unit may require you to drop the column for access.
