Ignition Problem - Burning up coils
I've got a 69 442 with almost everything stock. For some reason I've had 4 coils go bad in the last couple months. I figured out that the resistive wire went bad, so I installed an Accell ballast resistor with 1.35 ohms. At first the resistor smoked a little, but still worked. After a week or so the car wouldn't start and I checked everything out and the coil was bad again, and also the resistor became a short, no resistance anymore. Not sure what the problem causing this could be, and any help or ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks

That's just weird.
Are you buying one brand / model of coil over and over, or did you mix it up a bit?
Any chance you've got an intermittent short to ground in your distributor?
Have you checked your dwell angle recently?
Way too much dwell would be an obvious answer.

I have tried different types of coils, all were oe replacements that need the external resistor. I don't think I have a short in the distributor, but I'm gonna double check all my grounds. And I will check my dwell I didn't think of that. I have replaced both the condenser on top of the coil and the one inside the distributor.
Thanks!
