Identifying an unknown connection? Help '68 442 vert

Hello, new to the forum guy here.. help? Anyone..

I hope someone can identify this connection/ and wires to help me figure out what it was- or originally went to...

I've gone over the wiring schematic (but I'm not very good with those), and I've dug through the PIM & chassis service manual.. I think it's likely one of two things, but am looking for better confirmation. My 2 guesses are either for the 4sp reverse light switch,(which is missing) or possibly a lead for oil pressure (car has rally pac)

It is a 2 wire connection, one wire blue, one black (w/ perhaps a blue stripe), it will connect to something under the dash, and travels through the firewall ( Via the rubber grommet just above the fusebox) and this is where I don't know. There was a small amount of this wire just tied off wrapped around a brake line.

Couple things to know - 1) car is a manual 4-speed (68 442) and is missing the reverse switch for back up light harness etc. I suspect this MAY be the lead for that. (I bought the switch, but haven't mounted it yet)
2) some previous owner disabled the factory oil pressure and mounted aftermarket gauges, so the factory lead off original sender is gone...
3) this is definitely factory wiring.
And oh- the harness is out of the car.. yes I took a bunch of pictures, but this lead went no where - which is what I'm trying to figure out....

The second pic is what I suspect it connected to under the dash- simply by way of that is the only mating connector I found.... And those wires into the harness are light green, and a dark green with a white stripe. I am NOT absolute that is the right connection point.

Help, any ideas ? Thanks!

The blue/black wire harness is the jumper for the four speed backup light switch. The green/green-white wires normally run to the backup light switch on the steering column. Since the switch is on the trans for 4spd cars, that blue/black harness runs out the firewall through the accessory grommet and under the tunnel to the switch on the trans. FYI, the rally pack oil sender uses the same wire as does the idiot light sender.
