HVAC wiring

Does anyone know what this wiring connection goes to? Located on passenger side on a/c suitcase. Brown wire is disconnected. Green disappears into firewall. A/c is not hooked up at this point. Thanks, 70 cutlass supreme

That looks like the ambient switch that cuts off the compressor if the temp gets too low - but I think both wires should be green.

Correct, it is the ambient temperature switch, but the wire colors are green and brown, per the diagram in the 1971 CSM. This is apparently a change made after the 1970 CSM was printed, as it does not appear in the 1970 book. There's likely a Dealer Service Bulletin on it, but I haven't looked for it.
