horn issues - where is the switch contact made at the pad?
Hi,
1971 Cutlass (base coupe) with the standard "delta" style wheel.
Recently got the wheel restored (SteeringWheelBob, highly recommended, but not inexpensive).
Can't imagine I didn't test the horn when I put the wheel back in (several months ago) but now I have no horn.
Diagnostics: horns, relay, and wiring up the column are ALL GOOD. If I jump a wire across the floating plate (under the pad) to the column post, I get horn; the spring/plunger providing current to the plate is intact and making good contact (cleaned).
The question is, when the pad is depressed, WHERE is the contact point to ground out and complete the circuit? Possibly it was painted over in the restore. Or is there a missing contact clip? I don't recall anything being there.
Again, everything is correct right up to the horn pad. I'm just not getting contact when I move the pad / plate.
Thanks in advance.
Steve
