Help with installing hazard flashers in a 65 442
#6
Check out the answer I gave you over on Hotrodders.com. I posted the instructions for the generic versions. It's actually very easy to install one. There are five wires, one power and four that go to each of the turn signal wires. You just splice them in to each of the four, it really doesn't matter which is which. The Flarestat has a four pole switch that connects the four turn signal filaments to the flasher in the Flarestat. This is exactly how the 1967-up cars do it, but that "wiring" is built into the turn signal switch.

Maybe. I'd have to see the schematic of the unit, but if you really do have a 3PST relay, you might be able to hook one to each of the front turn signal wires and the third one to the brake switch wire. This should work so long as the turn signal switch is in the straight ahead position.

No. I guess I don't know what you mean by a "three wire" flasher. For a hazard flasher add-on to work with the GM turn/brake light circuit, there needs to be at least three switched light wires from the Flarestat in addition to the power wire. One of the three switched wires taps into the wire from the brake light switch to the turn signal switch. This will flash both rear brake/turn lamps. Each of the other two switched wires need to splice into one of the wires from the turn signal switch to the front turn bulbs. This flashes each of those. Again, this assumes that the Flarestat has at least a 3PDT switch in it. Most Flarestats I've seen have a 4PDT switch, which also works.
