Headlight recommendations – need something brighter than stock
I am looking for your recommendation on what aftermarket headlights to get for a 1971 Cutlass daily driver. I am looking for something brighter than the stock lamps. Are there any aftermarket kits or even LED kits to make it a bit brighter? Thanks

The above are a very practical, reasonable choice for a car you drive, which I recommend, but to paraphrase the old saying: "Light costs money - How bright do you want to be?"

I find the stock high beams are already really bright if there's noone else on the road. Just, since i do mostly city driving, i hardly use/need em'.

Just changing from stock sealed beam units to off-the-shelf halogen sealed beams made a world of difference on my '72. I can see better driving it than my caddy.
I got mine from Napa, I think they were Wagners, about 8 bucks a pop. Change them all, both lows and highs. Adjust them well afterward by parking in an alleyway or side street.

This THE forum for headlight upgrades and their German moderator condemns them all.

Actually I guess his post does reflect poorly on Sealed beams as well as aftermarket 5 3/4" H4 housings.
I personally went with 5 3/4 H4 converted headlights for $35 off Ebay.
They are inexpensive and a great improvement over stock.
Doing the relay upgrade to bring higher voltage and 200-300% brightness increase is another bonus.
