Guages
My 83 Hurst Olds has something going wrong with some of the guages. The oil ptressure, the amp guage, and don't know for sure about the fuel guage doesn't seem to be working. The only thing working that I know for sure is the tachometer and the dash lights. Where do I start looking for the problem. Repair manual should arrive tomorrow, just trying to get a head start on this problem. Just got the carb. back today and installed to get vehicle running. Thanks Larry
Trying recall from 15 years ago! Pull cluster IIRC there is a flexible circuit board that can get warped over the years some people pound on the dash for a temp. fix (cracks dash) pull the connector off the board and use some electrical tape to build up the area behind board so you can get a better connection.
This worked on my 87 "442" for the three years that I owned it. It should be the same design.

If it were a ground problem I would think nothing would work(dash lights and tach). I will try and pull the unit out of the car and see if I can see anything going on with the ribbon connector or the circuit board. Does the unit come out the front or the rear of the dash? I appreciate everyones imput on this. Gives me a starting point. Larry

The ribbon connectors are a common problem, I also have had problems with where the gauges push into the dash there are little spring clips that grab the posts on the back of the individual gauges. The spring clips were available at the dealer but it's been a long time since Iv'e looked for them.
