Gauges occasionally go haywire

Hi Guys, been searching the board for the answer but haven't found the exact situation. Im just going to call out some of the electrical problems i have been seeing with the hope that some of you have delt with them in the past. Thanks in advance.

1.Ive only got two tanks of gas in this car and I'm still learning what its issues are. I was on the highaway for the first time for about 15 minutes. just under 3k RPM and all way gravy until i noticed the RPM gauge jumped up to 4000k-4500k RPM with no change in engine sound and clearly not 4000k RPM.

2.Also the fuel gauge went from 3/4 tank to half, then back up, then dropped to 1/4 on the way home. then a hair over half tank when I started it the next day. Very spiritspiraticand possibly not even remotely connected in any way to the RPM jump.

All other gauges read true and stable so i do not think it could be the regulator. Definitely an externally regulated alt ad i can see the regulator on the firewall.
The gauges are all aftermarket Daytona's and the fuel gauge is an automata for some reason.

3. whine in the radio the increases with RPM. Horrible reception too, but I'm looking for the ground there as it is more than likely the culprit.

4. When i turn on the wipers (with the lights on) the back light for the fuel and volt gauges go out - odd.

5.the car will drain the battery if it is sitting for a few days and the battery terminal kill switch isn't unscrewed. Most likely due to the aftermarket alarm.

So thats it for now, sorry for the problem dump.

Check your connections under the dash both power and grounds,

See above.

There should be a capacitor on bot the coil+ (if still points), and the voltage regulator.

4. When i turn on the wipers (with the lights on) the back light for the fuel and volt gauges go out - odd.

Again this is probably related to your issues above with the gauges.

Possibly, make sure your volt meter goes off with the key.

So thats it for now, sorry for the problem dump.
