Floor console

H i guys I have a 1971 cutlass- s and I am looking for some info concerning the wire harness which is either three or four pin. My console has a four pin harness but was told that the three pin was the one for the car. I was wondering if the harnesses apply to the varying years or do I have a floor console for another year. Can someone clarify this for me or can I be given documentation to backup the three and four pin harness fitment. Thanks.

Sorry, I don't know the answer so I'm bringing it to the top with the hope someone else does. John

Thanks John for your concern and I am still conducting my research also hoping that some one might be able to come up with right answer to the question.

I am new to this but based on the burl woodgrain shown in your picture it looks like you may have a console out of a 1970. I don't know if they are different in any way, and we also have no way of knowing if the woodgrain insert is original or a replacement. Just a thought.

The console feed is a rectangular four terminal connector that's pigtailed out of the dash harness in the general vicinity of the radio. It mates to the connector in the photos. All 1970-72 consoles are the same except for the woodgrain appliqué.

This what my harness extension looks like, it has three pins which came from a 1971 cutlass so I was told. Can anyone varify that or tell me what year olds it fits. On the other hand my console has four pins.
