Electronic ignition conversion

I am curious if anyone has converted their points and condenser ignition to electronic using one of the PerTronix conversion kits. If so how did it work?

Thanks.
Don

Over 20 years ago I used a Pertronix kit to convert the points ignition in my 64 98. It worked great. The module I bought back then had far better dependability than the HEI modules I've been running in my 71 98.

Same your money and frustration. I had two of them in the 54 Olds I had. They both left me on the side of the road. Get you some good points and condenser and go with it.

Maybe it depends on the car. You don't say what car you want to put this in, but I put conversion kits into two cars I once owned, a '67 Delta 88 and a '73 Custom Cruiser. Both worked beautifully.

Got one in my Olds 350. No problems for 10 years or so. I bought the cheapest Pertronix kit- seem like it was only about $20. But I have heard horror stories like Glenn mentioned.

That was my experience. There is a guy in our club that has had one in his car for 15 years. Maybe the quality was better back then.
