Electrical Query

Currently my 77 Brougham is driving around South Texas without any A/C. I have tracked the problem to a burned out wire now the question I have is this.... Should I splice the wire or just replace the wire and how difficult would the task be? I am personally fine in 100+ degree weather without an A/C my passengers on the other hand tend not to be...

Which wire?

In general, it is fine to splice in portions of a wire that are screwed up, but be sure to solder and use shrink tubing in order to have a repair that lasts.

I you can get to where you have good wire at both ends I would splice it by soldering a new piece of the same or larger gauge wire in it's place. Trying to replace the entire wire would probably be a pointless endeavor because you would end up needed to replace either an entire harness or sub-harness to do that.
