Does anyone know where I can purchase some electrical connectors to make a jumper wire from the underhood lamp to the forward light harness. The manual shows this jumper and thus far I have not been able to locate one. M&H doesn't have them and they referred me to THE REPAIR CONNECTOR STORE http://repairconnector.com/.Tried them also and they did not have the connectors either. He suggested that I cut the wires and solder them and use heat shrink, I told him that I would most certainly did not want to cut and spice any of the wires because the harness is new. The connection on the lamp and the wiring harness have the same type connector. Also in looking at the hood lamp I see there is no switch on it. What makes it light up when the hood is opened? It appears to be the original one for the car


I was lucky. I found them at a local non chain car parts store. I was going to try here but didn't have to.

Those connectors are used in many places throughout various cars. They should be available in junk yards and from anyone parting out a car. The internal metal connector can be removed by squeezing a very small screw driver down along side the connector to unlock a small catch and pull out by the wire. With that done, you can make a jumper any length you need. The light has a switch built in - there is a large drop of mercury inside which makes the contact when the light is tipped up. Be very careful of these, old ones tend to break easily and the mercury spills out.
Thanks very much for that information. I will be giving PCS CONNECTORS a call. That is really what I am looking for. I am really trying to keep from splicing anything and the reason is, the wiring harness(engine and light) was all butchered up,spliced up and it looked awful when I got the car,so I replaced them with new harnesses from M&H. Now when I started working on the dash I found the wiring harness was even worst than the engine,light harness. Wires had been burned,fuse box had jumper wires going from one bus to the other,wires exposed and a couple when I took the tape off the harness it was just crazy the way whoever had the car had done it. I actually started working on the harness to fix and then I decided it was not worth the trouble to try to fix it and take a chance that the wiring catching on fire an my restoration goes up in smoke. I call M&H and ordered an under dash harness also and I think I feel better knowing that I have all new wiring and taking the apprehension away that I had in that harness.
There are many sources for Packard 56 series connector bodies and terminals. NAPA can order them, but you need to force the guy behind the counter to actually look them up in the paper catalog. He may not even be aware that he HAS a paper catalog in the store...

I'm glad I saw this one. My under hood lamp was disconnected years ago and it's time to turn it back on. I never could understand how it works. The manuals say nothing about it. I was looking for a relay somewhere.
Mine is rusty so I was planning on sandblasting it to clean it off but I have to think twice. I don't want that mercury to escape!
