My courtesy lights work (1956 Olds Super 88 ) but the pass side only operates the lights under the dash not the dome light, however if you wiggle the plunger the dome light will illuminate, I decided to take the jamb switch out , I looked at it and said to myself , self I believe you can dismantle that switch and clean it . there are 4 small tabs holding the fiber board with terminals to the end of the cylinder assembly , this is a very simple assembly with 4 contacts on the plunger that slide up and down in the cylinder and complete the circuit when the plunger is fully extended, I cleaned the 4 contacts on my wire wheel, and used a battery terminal cleaner brush to clean the cylinder re assembled the switch (praying the tabs would not break ) and re installed it, now works as intended first time every time.
the driver switch works fine. time to tackle the next little problem.

 

Some spray contact cleaner/ lubricant will make the connections work longer.
