If I recall your specific car, then I wonder if it is possible to install that housing backwards. I think it has louvers to direct the light at the switch, and if backwards, would direct light away from the switch......

Also, if the car was not originally equipped with these lights, then there might have been a blockoff plate there that would need to be replaced with the bluish plastic lens.

There was a block off plate I took it out.There were no lights on the head light switch and where I put louvers what was suppose to be there??

Okay, I looked at pictures of mine, and there is only one logical way to install the housing - with the sockets on the backside. Therefore, do not worry about the louvers - they are part of the metal case.

Did you get the sockets all the way in? I recall them being hard to get in all the way.

So the lights light up but you cannot see the switch in the dark? Hmmmm.......
