Car lighter to usb conversion

i ordered a replacement for my lighter socket (has juice but couldn’t get phone chargers to work with it so I went for the dual usb type) I’m worried about smoking devices - will this work for my 72 cutlass?
Thanks ~ Joe

12v system with a 5v Charger = bad? I’m afraid I don’t really know how that works? Any tips?

If you're going to install a 12v-compatible USB charging unit, better to hard-wire it to a keyed power source, as opposed to plugging into cig lighter then plugging things into the adapter - too many potential layers of resistance amongst other things.

I also wouldn't utilize a full-time power source for that because while convenient for use with the car off, if it draws any kind of continuous power even when not in use, it will drain your battery over prolonged periods.
