Borg Clock Repair

I just picked up a factory borg clock for my '71 Cutlass SX (mine had a clock delete). Any tips on getting these things to work again? Thanks!

most of the time you can just take them apart and file the contacts. just like you would do to clean the points of the engine. the other thing is to use clock oil to lube the gears. just be careful, this oil runs like water and only takes a very small amount. don't ask me where to get this oil because a guy gave me mine and have no clue where to get it.

Sewing machine oil is thin and usable. If it is beyond repair, OPG sells a quartz conversion kit for the Borg units, but they are around 70 bucks!

CLOCK

I have been looking for a clock for my 1971 CS. Where and from who did you happen to obtain yours?

clock

I bought a very nice clock off of ebay a few months ago that was restored by user "oldsmike". His email address is Murphs25@aol.com. I am planning on sending him my speedometer and fuel gauges.

Got mine on e-bay over the weekend, including the wiring. Keep looking, they will show up once and a while. Just know how much you want to spend.

This may be a silly question, but how does one verify a particular clock has a Borg movement?
Before installing my Rally Pac, I tried to fix my clock (looks like the one pictured above) and nowhere could I find a name on it...
(And I bet it was right under my nose!)

Unless it was an aftermarket quartz conversion, I always assumed the factory clocks were borg movements. I googled it and found lots of info. Of course my first employer told me to never assume...

So the lack of that info on my clock meant I did not have a Borg unit (or so I assume!) It looked very similar though...
