Hey
I totally mounted mine on a single aluminum plate right under the dash, mine are EQUUS from crappy tire and they work just fine. one is a vacuum and one is a water temp. I guess just watch when you route the line and you should be just fine.
If i had a chance to buy them again, i'd probably just buy electronic gauges off amazon.com
Cheers,
Tony

I put AutoMeter gauges in the Delta a few years ago.
If you ever see Benson's Autoparts selling stuff at a car show, have a look at what they have. I got my new AutoMeter Cobalt gauges for less than half of regular price from Benson's at the Upper Canada Village car show.

I have and continue to use Stewart / Warner. I like the style and they work ( better ). If I buy a car that does not have factory gauges I will fit them with SW. They have been around longer and the company will stand behind them

I would stay away from the cheepie gauges too. I am planning on the Autometer Traditional Chrome, 3 gauge set. (Made in USA)
Also, I really like a fellow forum member's gauge housing that he is making for us. I plan on buying one in the near future. Do a search under "gauge housing", the thread is entitled:

Looks nice and stock!
