AutoMeter Gauges in Canada

Does anybody know the best place to order these gauges in Canada, every distributor I've called from AM web site has huge markups...is there no JEGS equivalent in Canada?

Nope not in Canada. We don't have nearly a big enough market for something like that.

Auto Meter guages aren't cheap. They are sold by pretty much every performance shop but you will usually get your best deals at large car shows or events.

I've ordered a lot of parts from Jegs, and never had any problems. With our dollar being so strong, it's a good time to buy US.

The prices are good at Jegs although for us poor Canadians, you need to include brokerage fees, HST, more expensive handling fees...and as of today the dollar is around par.

Ship your parts to freeport forwarding in Champlain Ny, i've been shipping them olds parts for 3 years now, satisfaction with a smile.

And i dont have to pay those stupid brokerage fees. Keep in mind, if you are buying parts for your classic car, and keep the parts 100% american made, there is no duty since NAFTA was put into place.

Cheers,

Tony

I'm one of those poor Canadians, but I've never had any huge brokerage fees. I use to order parts from Dearborn, in Bend,OR and most of the orders had no fees or duty at all. As for Autogage, I'm currently using them in my 64, and I've had no problems.

If the guages are made in the US as I believe Autometer still is there should be NO duty. You will still have to pay brokerage fees from the shipping company because they will still need to deal with customs to prove they are US made.

I've found that even with the fees, the product is still cheaper. That may just be me, because if I need a part, I will get it. Cost of doing business.

But you still have to pay the sales tax (HST or GST/PST depending on your province).

You can have things shipped to a UPS port at the johnstown crossing. That is only an hour away. My mechanic out of Manotick moves parts this way from the states. Check rock auto - he buys alot from there for all brands. If you are interested I can find out more.

Yes thanks, CarDesigner sent me a pm about this, I'm investigating with UPS Ogdensburg. It's to bad we have to go to these lengths, if the local supplier markups weren't so friggin high, maybe they would see more of my business.
