AM radio

Could someone please tell me how to wirer up the speaker on a 1966 oldsmobile 442. Ive got power to the radio. theres only one speaker mounted in the dash (orginal) Looking at the back bottom right hand corner theres a connector where you hook the yellow feed wire and 2 wires i think go to the speaker.ive hooked them up to the speaker but no sound .Ive plug in the antenna to the radio. Then theres a blue wire that i dont have a clue where it goes. Any helpwill be Great.

Thanks Tom

If it's anything like a '68, there should be a yellow wire (12V), a blue wire and a black wire, all joining into the same connecter that goes into the back of the radio. The blue wire is your feed to the front speaker and the black wire is a ground that returns from your front speaker to the radio.

If you have another blue wire with a connector on the end besides what I just mentioned, that would be for a rear speaker and your radio should have a fader dial on the right side that adjusts sound from front to rear.

Thank you, Im still confused on the blsck wire returning from the speaker. The speaker has 2 connection points. and i think the blue wire is the shunt wire where does hook up.

The speaker will have 2 connection points. The blue wire is the (+) positive connection. The black wire is ground , aka shunt.

Connect the blue wire to the radio and the black wire can be wrapped around one of the speaker mounting studs.

The black wire might not be necessary as the speaker might get a ground from the metal base.

Try connecting the black wire to ground and try not connecting it.
