Aftermarket alarm question - what brand is it?
Morning!
Just cut out this rat's nest from under my dash before it burns to a crisp:
aftermarket_alarm_01.jpg
No soldering, all just twisted together and taped - even at the main loom. And that's "2 blue in, a white and a red one out of that knot. Make an educated guess"...
Does anybody have a hint on what brand that is? PCB not marked, no model/manufacturer info whatever.
aftermarket_alarm_02.jpg
aftermarket_alarm_03.jpg
Consists of a central unit, a horn in the engine bay, a small 2-button remote and a shock sensor. It powered 2 door lock actuators. Ususal connectors like ACC, Batt+, ground.
I *might* reuse it if it's a brand unit and if I can get any docs. So, any ideas?

Need some better pics of the remote and the impact sensor to be sure but it looks like either an early DEI unit or maybe a base model Clifford. Directed Electronics Inc. makes many of the more popular security systems now days including Viper, Python, Avital, Sidewinder, Valet, and Hornet. They had some pretty cheesy boxes when they were just starting out. Are there any markings on the plastic housing at all? Any markings at all on the circuit boards? Clifford was one of the pioneers in automotive security systems. Both manufacturers offer a lifetime warranty if it fails to function. You would have to contact a licensed dealer for that.
These are only shots in the dark, there were many different brands that came and went during the '80s all using similar housings. Clear photos of each piece with the wiring neatly out of the way is the key to identifying it.
