I own a 1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme and a 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. I recently totaled my 78 so now I am in the process of transferring the Olds 350 rocket and my turbo 350 transmission from the 78 to the 86. My 86 came with no motor or transmission and the idiot who pulled them stripped my wiring harness so I have no idea which wire goes where. I want to splice in the wires from my 78 (the one's that run from the ignition to the battery and to the starter and alternator) but the colors don't match up perfectly. I have tried finding a haynes or chiltons manual & have had no luck in finding one for those years. I have also tried looking the diagrams up online which led me to this forum. Any help would be much appreciated.

 

Get a 1986 factory service manual. The wiring is shown in excruciating detail (it's all in the CSM for 1986, there's no separate electrical manual). Be sure to get the CSM for the RWD cars - there's a Cutlass Supreme and Custom Cruiser on the cover. There are currently 13 of these on ebay, starting at $4.99.
