72 washer pump polarity?

After completely rewiring my car (72 cutlass), I found that the wiper fuse was the only one blown. I narrowed it down to the washer pump. My 2 contact plug will go in either way (pic below). Which side should the yellow power wire go to?

i would have to look at one again but i don't think it will matter. it is just a coil that is powered to create magnetism and pull the little lever to activate the washer pump.

Isn't there an electric pump in there? I really have no idea since the only thing I got with the car was the wiper assembly.

Yellow goes on the wiper motor side (towards the brake booster).
Blue is the side that gets grounded when the button is pressed.
Yes, this is not an actual pump but a solenoid that engages the wiper motor driven pump.
I have 3 GM cars with similar pumps and none of them work. I will not comment on them any further ...

Looks like maybe I should look for an aftermarket washer setup.

There are o-ring kits for them available if the issue is just not pumping. .

If I kept the factory look to the washer pump, it would be the only factory looking thing under the hood.
Since I dont have the reservoir, tubing, spray nozles, etc. and that solenoid seems to short out the circuit, I think I'll just put in a universal one.

I bought an aftermarket pump at O'reilley Auto parts 10 years ago ($28) and it still works like a charm.
