'72 Cutlass Electric Rear Defogger
'72 Cutlass Electric Rear Defogger
I have a 72 Cutlass S, factory air car with electric rear defogger thats receiving an LS1. I'm installing a Vintage Air kit in and a new wiring harness and thought about hooking back up my rear defogger to help clear up the rear window. I only used it once and I kinda heard a buzzing noise more from the dash but I figured thats how the older models worked. Does anyone know? Anyways, I removed the voltage regulator, junction block, relay and fuse block. I still have the wiring for it. Looking at the wiring diagram for it, it looks like its basically a 3 Amp fuse to switch to relay and 30Amp power from junction block to relay to the defogger. I thought I would wire in a push button switch and a new relay but my question is about the 30 Amp power from the junction block. The wiring goes to the voltage regulator and the manual talks about the 63 Amp generator output. Will the defogger still work with the higher output of the new altenator. It should still work if I feed power to the defogger from the battery to a 30Amp fuse/circuit breaker to the relay to the defogger won't it? Also, do I still need to keep the radio condenser that's wired in with the defogger connector from the voltage regulator that goes to ground? I don't know if anyone else has come across this problem but I'm looking for some feed back. Thanks.
