72 350 no start

Electric issue on 72 350 Supreme convertible .No spark to plugs. Spark at coil when I open the points with screwdriver. No spark at coil wire when I crank.
Ive followed the steps outlined in the sticky. New plug wires and plugs. What am I missing?

If you have power at the coil+ terminal I'd say your points not opening or a bad condenser.

X2. Misadjusted points is the most likely cause. Also look at a possible defective rotor - I've had a brand new rotor that was shorted under the center contact and grounded to the distributor shaft. You can just imagine the cursing when I finally found THAT problem!

Finally, be sure the distributor is turning when you crank the motor. If the timing chain came off due to a worn cam gear, you won't get spark.

I swapped in a newly rebuilt distributor that I havent delivered to a buddy. It has fire now. Popping and sputtering so probably one tooth off. Thanks for
the help guys.

Um, another thing is to ensure that there is actually a rotor under the cap. Not saying that I have ever forgotten to put one back prior to attaching the cap and wires, but I've heard of it happening to some folks.
