'66 E body wiring diagram (toronado)

My manual is a reprint which is great for everything but the wiring diagram.

It is so small it is pretty unreadable and in black and white...

Anybody know of a source of a color .pdf of this?

Which is why one should not waste money on reprints, but should buy original CSMs, which are always available on ebay.

That one I have came from the "Wild About Cars" site back when access was free..

I'll be happy to buy one if I find it.

I did think a .pdf would be better if it was scanned well as I could zoom it in on the screen.

In my limited experience, zooming in on a scan gets you larger crappy pixels, not more info. It ain't like on TV where they can zoom in and read a wrist watch from a satellite.

Factory original CSM in paper is the way to go for that color wiring diagram.

Sorry, but all I can say is that you can't have been looking very hard. A 30 second search of ebay just showed about nine originals (not repros or CDs). The least expensive had a current price of $9.99.

I can neither confirm nor deny that capability. I will say that commercial imaging satellites like those from Digital Globe have six inch resolution from orbit today. These satellites have relatively small aperture telescopes. I'll leave to your imagination what that means for government systems that may or may not exist and may or may not have significantly larger, higher resolution optics...

By the way, the ludicrous part of these TV shows is the fact that somehow a single fuzzy pixel from a traffic camera can become a fully focused and readable license plate. That does violate a few laws of physics. JPL and others have developed software to interpolate between pixels, but the stuff you see on TV isn't physically possible.

Thanks Joe,

In fact, until I realized that I needed a better schematic I had not looked at all..

You have now sent me on another quest for a good copy of the CSM.

I have, however, been looking for a parts interchange listing of some kind because when I look for brake rotors for example, I'm sure some of the slotted ones from summit would fit and are probably the same as used on other Olds or GM vehicles.

Any suggestions here would be appreciated as well

Hollanders is the interchange manual.

You do realize that the FWD Toro and Eldo don't share any suspension or brake parts with any of the RWD GM cars, right? You're probably stuck looking for disks off of a 1969-70 version of the Toro/Eldo.

OK, in checking, the rotors and calipers are common for 1969-1978 Toro and Eldo - only. RockAuto sells replacements Here are the rotor dimensions:

68-72 E-body disc spindles are pretty much a bolt-in for 66 and 67. I'm told you can also use 73-78 by using the ball joints and outer tierod ends for those years.

Goes without saying that 76-78 rear discs will also work on the earlier cars, but an Olds Zone service guy I greatly respect once told me it would not be worth the time and trouble since those systems were so troublesome.

Thanks Joe,
I have looked at Hollanders but it sounds like I'd be better of with an Olds parts manual.

I was hoping to find a few parts common to the other platforms as there is no aftermarket to speak of for the E- bodies.

That's the price I pay for being different.

Rocketraider,

I am using disk spindles from a 1970, Just starting to put it back together.

While I don't advocate drilled, slotted rotors, RockAuto actually lists them for a Toro under the Centric brand. About $55 each.

As a follow-up to my original question, it turns out that the digital copy I got at Wild About Cars DID include a color copy of the wiring diagram.
I casually asked my wife if she was going to the office supply store and she said yes. Then I said would you get them to print a color copy of that wiring diagram. She said sure, how big? I said as big as you can get it and still read the print...
This is what she came home with: Yep, it's big enough to read, Guess it will become wall art for the garage....
