65 Starfire fuel tank sending unit

Hello all, I would like to know if there are any a or b body fuel tank sending units that would work in a 65 Starfire fuel tank, it is mounted in the front on the side not the top of the tank and also it is 90ohm full. This one is the 2 line with ac, Any help would be appreciated.

Your best bet would be to take the unit off the tank and try to match one up in an auto parts store.

Option 2 is to find one on ebay.

Good luck

I found the sending unit on EBAY used but I'm pretty sure that a Spectra FG88E sending unit will work they are $35 on ebay they are 90 ohm and have the 3/8" inlet and 1/4" return. may be worth a shot.

I don't see ANYTHING out there. None of the leads I've seen have come up with one. O'Riely and The Zone didn't have it in their catalog. Nothing at Dorman. It doesn't look anything like what I've been able to find pictures of.

I took the rheostat apart on mine, thinking there might be something simple. A bunch of rust and garbage fell out. the coil is still in good shape with the right resistance, but the contact was trashed beyond repair.

SOMEONE must have one of these things. Even a used on that works.

Does anyone repair them or have just the float/rheostat assembly I can attach to my pickup tube?

Any other ideas?

This is it:

ebay

I got it on Ebay for $18. There are others that look usable. search Ebay for this:
"Fuel level sender sending unit, GM type, 0-90 ohms, 6”- 24” adjustable"

The sensor comes right off with 2 screws. I made a bracket from a flat piece of aluminum from Lowes. Drill a couple holes it in it lined up with the sensor holes. Put the aluminum on one side and the sensor on the other. hold them together with 2 screws. it is tricky to get the float lined up right. in this case, it needs to be close to the bend so it fits into the hole in the tank. the orientation could definitely be better than I managed. don't cut the rod until you have it right where you want it with full sweep going from the bottom of the tank to the top - ~8" in this case. solder the wire to the inside of the flange where the original was connected. zero ohms empty. 95 ohms full.
