65 Cutlass power window problems

Well I got my new baby home (she sat for 4 years before I bought her) and they are a few electrical problems that need attending to so I will start with the power windows. The only window that goes up and down is the driver side and it only works if the door is open. As soon as you close the door the window is inoperable. Is they a logical progression of steps I should go through when checking out the system? Thank you in advance.

Could be a loose connection. Only way to tell is to take off the panel on the door and check it. If all the wires are good move the wires where they enter the door and see if it works. If it does the wires may have to be replaced.

Check and make sure the window regulator is nice and tight also, as the motor grounds to the door frame through it. My reg was loose when i bought my car.
For the other windows, do either the master switch work OR its own door switch?
Check for previous owner's kludgy wiring, too. I once had a power antenna relay powering the cigar lighter. Maybe someone wired your power windows to the courtesy lights??

Thanks for the quick replys.
Lady72nRob71 to answer your question, on the other 3 windows the master and each individual switches do not work. I think it must be a wiring problem as I can not believe that all 3 motors or bad plus the fact that the drivers window works when the door is open but does not work when the door is closed all point to a wiring problem of some kind.
