3 wires left 1972 olds cutlass

I have a 1972 350, auto trans and ac. I can't find where these last two wires go. One is a heavy purple wire and one is blue - see photo. The car starts, etc.

On a side note, the PO replaced the fuel gauge at some time- see wonderful splice job. Is the cut black wire just a ground? I am afraid to ground it and then cook something.

I added a car photo for kicks!

Thanks, Joe

The blue and purple wires are for the heater blower - the purple goes to the blower motor, and the blue is one of the wires that go to the sped switch.

The black wire is for the Fasten Seat Belt lamp.

Oh, and you need to hunt down the guy who did that wiring and kill him.

On the black, I will just leave cut cause I can't find the other end
Purple stays in the engine compartment to the blower motor??? I thought I already had that hooked up. It has a female black plug on the end.
And on the blue wire- what is a "sped" switch? The fan speed switch in the dash?
Sorry for all the questions. Thanks.

Why do people feel it's alright to try and wire something when they apparently don't know what they're doing... Sorry for your trouble man!

Whoops. Busy day at work. Typing too fast.

Yes. Does your fan have all 4 speeds, including High?

Got it...I thought I had hooked up the blower motor about 2 years ago prior to installing the fenders- rather lengthy resto. In reality, I only hooked up the 4" lead (brain lapse). Got the purple feed in the right spot and am workin on "bob villa's" repair. Thanks once again for all the input.
