1990 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Problem

Hi, I have a 1990 Oldsmobile Delta 88. I am having a problem with my ignition coil pack. As soon as I turn the key to the On position and get ready to start my car my ignition coil pack gets very hot and starts to melt, If I leave it long enough i'm sure it would catch fire. The night before this happened I was driving along and the car started jerking and was not running on all cylinders. I could not press the gas too much or it would stall. I made it home, went to start it in the morning and it would sputter and almost start. When I left the key on for a few minutes after cranking it the ignition coil pack was melting and smoking.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Matt

sounds like the ignition module is bad and giving power and ground to the coil at all times

cfhcar, That is definitely something to look at.

If anyone has any other ideas also I would love to hear them.

Thanks,

Matt
