1984 98 Power Window

The driver's power window on my 1984 Olds 98 suddenly stopped working all of a sudden. It was totally out-of-the-blue. I really do not want to have to do any work on this, as it's a huge pain. However, I don't think it's the motor or wiring, as when I hit the switch, I don't even hear the electricity in the wires or anything. My guess is that it could be the switch. Any ideas?

I am afraid that your going to have to take things apart and get a meter and do diagnostics.

Electricity is pretty quiet. The only time I've heard it is when it arcs and that means trouble. Your choice as said above is to troubleshoot. Unless you have unlimited funds. Then do what the government does and throw money at it until it is fixed.

^^^X2. Unless you have SuperGirl's hearing, you won't "hear" electricity. Silence can just as easily mean a bad motor as a bad switch, or a broken wire for that matter.

The fact that only one window stopped working means that the problem is confined to that door.

Well, I fooled around a little bit with the switch and the motor seems to have comes straight back to life. Now it works fine. Guess it was just a brief wonky moment for the system.

Most likely a bad/dirty contact in the switch.
