1981 Cutlass-Ignition Switch issues?
A month or so ago, I had my 81 Cutlass running-turned it off and when I tried to restart a few hours later had no power at all. The headlights worked as well as the cluster lights-nothing else. I changed out the ignition switch today and the same problem is there. Any ideas anyone has would be great. i dont have an ohm meter unfortunately.
Thanks

Possibilities are endless. You might want to purchase a voltmeter to help troubleshoot.
When you turn the key, do you hear a click at all? If the starter solenoid got stuck, you could try tapping it with a hammer to gt it free.
If you do not have 12+ volts at the battery, that would be a good place to start.

81 cutlass ignition switch?
No noises at all when I turn the key. I do have headlights and dash lights that dont dim when I turn the key. I also noticed that there's no key/ignition chime. No interior lights at all. All the symptoms led me to think it was the ignition switch. Could a bad ground at the positive cable be causing all this?
