1972 442 4 speed wiring question
HI akk, working on a 1972 442 convt, with a 4 speed. I have a few wires that I cannot recall how they went
First towards the bottom of the steering column there is a switch with 2 pins ... according to the manual this is the neutral safety switch .. or its for the back-up lights? In the pics it looks like there could be more pins for seat belt buzzer, I only have 2. Can someone tell me what this is .. and which wires (color) go here?
Then on the clutch pedal there is the switch so the car will only start when in reverse ... I was thinking this was the neutral safety switch ... and I thought 2 purple wires connected here ... then over to the main wiring harness?
Been forever since the car was taken apart ... any help is much appreciated.

Just to clarify, on a 1972 Olds with manual trans, the factory used a backdrive linkage from the trans to the steering column. This both locked the shifter with the key (as required by federal law) and also operated the backup light switch at the base of the column. This switch should have a connector with two green wires. Note that if the backdrive linkage has been removed, your backup lights won't work and you may occasionally have difficulty getting the key to turn to the LOCK position.
The clutch safety switch on the clutch pedal prevents the car from starting unless the clutch pedal is depressed. This switch should have a two wire connector with purple wires.
