1956 starting issue

This is from my pop. I’m leaning towards a grounded battery issue and not the starter but figured I’d ask for input.

We all have had hard starts in the past years. You might post the reading off a multimeter before and after letting it set overnight but first clean and polish all the terminal ends and grounds, Most likely it's one of them unless the battery is on its last legs...... Tedd

My guess is the battery was low on voltage for the first start and it didn’t run long enough to charge the battery enough to start a hot engine. Charge the battery fully and the let us know what voltage your reading across the pod and neg terminals with the engine running.

I think you were right on a weak new battery. Charged overnight and seems to be working. I’ll see him this weekend and check it.
