Air Shocks for a 74 88 Conv

Can I buy air shocks that would fit the rear of my 74 olds. I don't like how it sits so low. I suspect I won't find NEW correct fit springs and even new normal shocks would not raise like I want.

On Ebay it say these are not compatible with my 74 Delta 88.

That's the number that came up with my search. Go to your local autoparts store and have them look it up. Air shocks should be readily available.

Rear shocks are interchangeable between essentially all GM full size and mid size cars from 1959 to somewhere in the '90s.

The factory made lots of subtle valving changes, but most aftermarket shocks are spec'd for all of them.

If you don't find a '74 Delta on the list, check for a '71-'76 Impala - they are identical.

I always felt that air shocks were good if you needed the ability to adjust the ride height such as when carrying a heavier load on a trip, or towing a boat or small camper. In the case here, I get the impression that Tim is not happy with the ride height of the car ALL the time.

If so, my opinion would be to replace the rear springs instead. They are available.

They'd last longer than the shocks will since air shocks can be prone to leaking over time. A stock replacement set of springs wouldn't cost much more than the shocks and be a better "fix" in the long run.

But I agree with the above. If your heart is set on air shocks, all the GM big boats used the same ones.

I was under the impression it is hard to find springs for these now that are the right "spring rate" or I could end up with two diff springs??? Are they the same for Convert or HT?? Where can I find springs then? I just thought the air shocks were a easy way to get the car up a little more. If i put the slightest amount of weight in the car it really sits low. looks stupid. I never get any bottoming out though.
