Newbie...also Delta 88 pricing quuestion
Hi guys,
I am a long time member over at Team Chevelle. Currently I have no muscle in my garage, but will change that next year.
Anyway, decided to register for 2 reasons. First is next spring I will be after a 70-72 442 or a 70-72 GS...looking to stay away form the chevy scene. Secondly, I have a great Aunt who's late husband purchased my Grandfathers 70 Delta 88 custom probably in the early to mid 90's and wants to sell it.
The car is a 29,000 original mile car! It is a 455 car, the green color with black vinyl top. As far as I know there is only a very very small spec of rust on the trunk lid, otherwise the car is in A1 survivor shape. Obviously it is all numbers matching original everything. My Grandfather bought it new in Milwaukee and maybe drove it 2x per year. He then sold it to my grandmothers brother and his wife currently owns it. Anyway, I am going to try to help her sell it, but have no idea what a time capsule like that is worth?? She has all paperwork including the bill of sale from the dealership.

The Old Cars Price guide values a '70 Delta 88 Custom 2-door in "car show" (#3) condition it about $7,200. In showroom condition, the value listed is $11,000. In #4 condition (runs and drives but needs complete restoration), the value is $3,200. The fact that it's a Delta 88 Custom and not a base Delta 88 adds $200 to $300 to the value across the board.
My guess is this car is around a #3, especially after a good cleaning and detailing, perhaps a little less given the small amount of rust.
Based on this, I'd toss out a value of around $6,000 to $6,500. This is assuming the paint is good. If it's faded, etc. and the car could really use a repaint, then I'd say $4,000 to $5,000.

That's a good looking car and the really cool thing is you just don't see to many of them on the road these days.
To get the full value out of a car may take a few months. This is the time it can take for the right buyer to come along.
Low end for a quick sell $4500
High end because it's really a nice car $6500
