Purty lookin ol girl

I finally got the brake system together and working nice. Took her for a drive and ohhhh how sweet! 20 years of sitting and 2 solid weeks of wrenching and here we go! All i'm lacking to make her road worthy is a heater core, plug wires, and a windshield the price of which is nuts! But here is a sneaky peek of the beginning.

I'm not to sure on wheels just yet I may just stick with caps I don't want the car to look to gawdy. I may go with buckets but my daughter likes having a bench so she can mess with the radio while her old man drives. I just sold one of my bikes so hopefully after my Christmas shopping is done I can send the ol girl out for an interior makeover while I wait for my odds and ends to get her purring right to come in. I want to keep the paint and interior as close to original as possible.

lol yep thats the way it's been. The headliner is totally gone but the trim and ribs are still there. there is a few local shops out here that can do headliners without a kit of anything so once i decide on the seat colors the headliner will just follow suit. Hopefully today i can find a heatercore without having to wait so i can get the car home and start pulling and cleaning stuff up. What is your project looking like?

my car is a 62 starfire that belonged to granny so it was taken pretty good car of for most its life. had some extended barn time though so the leather is dry and the headliner is gone Ive replaced all the brake lines working on fuel lines and power steering lines now. lots of vacuum lines totally dried out and leaking so that will be next. when i get back home ill try to post some pictures. looks real good as i drive bye though keep me posted on your 88. none of my family or buddies are car guys so its nice to talk to someone with similar project/addiction.

Sounds nice, i wish the old girl was a starfire but i'm just happy to have one. i actually just picked up a windshield for $150 bucks so now I'm really excited, man you would go nuts with my family my brother has a 66 gmc truck ratted out with air bags, a 64 chevy truck sitting on a blazer frame, a 64 fairlane that i will talk him out of one day and a 64 thunderbird. My pop has a 69 Z28 that he is doing a frame off restoration on, and an 85 vette with 30k miles. If i was to tell you about my uncles cars i could start another forum. let me know what you need and i can see what extras or resources i have, my entire family are gearheads.

Yeah with money and kiddos they are always first but on top of them learning some skills and how to work for themselves we get a chance to hang out and have some fun. One thing that i am always doing with some of the smaller shops is barter some work they need for work i need. Hopefully the windshield and heater core will get done this week sometime i can run it by the upholstery shop, but i will take pics of all the progress most definitely. After a run of building about 5 mustangs i am really really excited to build something that you never see running around.

Actually i have been working on it slowly, i was trying to decide on a wheel tire combo. Being that its not going stock i'm going with just some stock steel wheels with bullet caps and bullet lugs. She's running real good right now i got some fuel and charging issues worked out so (with fingers crossed) she she should be ready to hit the road once i slap some new tires and my lugs come in.
