Draged home a 54
Looks like '55 98 lenses on the tail lights - not sure if the 54 / 55 lenses interchange, or they dropped in '55 housings - they are very similar and could very well interchange - real nice car either way
Well the biggest thing is someone forgot the zinc in the oil so tap tap tap she goes. the dark blue is not the right blue its was lighter. The white was. It was lowered but put new fronts springs in it and took lowering blocks out and now she rides like a dream
I'm sorry I hadn't run across your thread sooner. I've become quite partial to the 54 2-dr 88s. Yours looks very nice.
My dad purchased his in July 2011, and it had been in my care for the past 14 months as we refurbed the body, interior and drivetrain. I just delivered it back to him a couple weeks ago.
Here's a little video of it.
As for the ticking lifters, it's a common trait on those engines. Cleaning them is listed in the shop manual as one of the steps in routine service procedures. I think the rattle is just an indication they're working properly.

I've developed a real fondness for the '54 models, that face is what makes the whole car. I love the wheelcovers on this, it's neat to see the less expensive line sporting thedeluxe ones. I'd enjoy this one for years!
