Whats up guys? I just picked up my first project car. A '73 delta 88 Royale. I'm hoping that I can learn a lot from the other members of this site, any feedback and how-to is much appreciated. So my first question is where to start?

 

I would have to say get a shop manual.
Next research all you can about your car. Online is a good place.
Watch eBay and here for parts you need now and plan for future use.
Finally explore junkyards in your area for other cars.

If your looking for any pictures on what stuff should look like, I have an all original (including paint) 73 Delta 88 Royale that I can send you pictures.The only thing that isn't factory is the air cleaner since in my younger days I liked the chrome. I do however have the factory one.

 

I have a '73 Custom Cruiser, which shares many things with your car. There are others on here with '73 full-size Oldsmobiles, too, who will likely chime in.

As far as where to start, how about some more info. Does the car run? What does it need? How about some photos?

Usually the thing to do first, if you aren't planning to do an off-frame restoration but rather would like to be able to drive it while you're fixing it up, is to make sure it is roadworthy. Was the car driven recently by the prior owner, or has been sitting for 10 years? How are the brakes? Engine? Hoses? Fluids? Coolant? Etc.?

As has been noted, if you plan to do any serious work at all, getting the '73 Oldsmobile Chassis Service Manual and the '73 Fisher Body Manual are musts. Both are almost routinely available on ebay as well as severral online literature vendors.
