1969 88, what you think its worth?

i have had found a possible buy on a 1969 delta 88 2dr hardtop that one member of the local club has. In your guys opinion what you think it is worth? i am going to keep the price to myself due to not affecting your opinion.

As Always TIA
Thomas "Sicky Olds"

Owner says it needs carb rebuilt and brakes done but other than that a solid DD if wanted

if it has a 455 I would say 1000 tops....its a little shabby and demand is low for these tanks.

By the pound, $1600! But for you, $995! My question is why not spend a little bit more and capitalize on someone elses depreciation and buy one thats is already a driver??? I would think for around $5-6000, you can find a car that has had most of the misery taken care of already, and personalize it.

If it were a Royale with buckets and console I'd say grab it for a "down the road" project, but this one won't be a practical DD.

Don't get me wrong- I like the 69-70 big cars, but I'm seeing a money pit to keep it going depending on how long it's been sitting up. Plus these cars got horrible gas milage. Not a big concern when gas was 30 cents a gallon, but now?

That is why more people must get a big olds.
The more people needing parts the more price goes down.

i like my big 69 delta 88 werry much, drives real nice.

Some exterior and interior parts are dificult to get, engine, wirering whipermoters, etc are a lot simpler.

Just the interior/exterior moldings/ cables/ needed for specific dat of year are hard to find.

And i hope people gona apreciate the big olds more by value,
You seen more cutlass models than fulsize models i think

Needs nothing! Drive home today!

Seriously, nice car. It has style to it and it is a 2 door.

As far as a DD, gas would be the issue.

lol my DD right now gets 12 to the gallon estimated so i am going to go out on a limb and say wont be too much of an issue on the gas thing lol. the 69 got about 8-10 i believe and i think i could do it on that one if i wanted... going to look at it next week along with the 72 vista cruiser

keep the caprice dump the time ,energy and money in the hurst ,your gonna get scattered with to many projects we've all been there when you love cars, - a friend of mine has adopted a saying and its perfect for this-- " I'VE LEARNED TO SEE THINGS FOR WHAT THEY ARE AND NOT WHAT THEY COULD BE"

well since i have owned one for about twenty years now i can definitly shed some light for you.
Brakes--- if it has disk brakes on the front you may never drive the car since it has been sitting the rotors are rusted and they are not available for these cars anymore, been looking for the whole time. Rear drums are in the same boat there not available.

Gas mileage well mine is not horrible like metioned it has a 455 with a 2:73 gear ratio. car was originally a 350 car and got excellent gas mileage for the size of the car.

So if it is solid i agree with a 1000.00 and make some by parting it out would be the best way to go unless you know of a great fab guy and lots of dolllars to build a new front end for brakes and all that

The tail lights are worth some money to those who have a broken one and if the car has drum brakes i would be interested in the spindles as would alot of the guys on here. being its a texas car there is definitly some good chrome and should be solid. i have some interest in some front fenders and a rear deck lid

so hope i help the brakes are the worst part of these cars since parts are not there. if the rotors are good then roll with us big guys and enjoy a wonderful riding car.

could vind drumspindles

or re-fabricate the front spindle.
1965-1970 spindles should be the same.
Got myselve a set of drumspinles of a 1966 88 and looks not that differend.

At the rear drums of my 69 88 i can order a set of brake pads from fusik and lokal.

So no problem over here, Only the lack off original 69 parts like bumpers sheetmetal, wirering etc.
If you are going to make it a show original car.

As i seek the whole wirering part under the hood, that fits the original fuses/conector both lights and engine.

And a set of dentfree bumpers, also not cheap to sent it over here.

But you can get or find most parts if you spent time on the internet or here on the olds forum.

and there are much guy's like those converted the olds in donks or lowriders/airsuspension that changed the interely front and rearaxelsetup.
If it fits and works it works!

And i like driving my big olds very much, It is big and faster than most common cars

next time i remove my rear wheel il take some pictures.

Do not ask how what or why but i do have 2 different reardrums.
1 original (wide) and one smaller, they fit and are not that differend from stock.

I do not know from what car it came becouse the former owners put this on.

Maybe they did grind it to fit at a brake shop i don't know, but it fits.

And in front just buy a "kit" and see if it will fit and what to alter
I bought 66 drumspindles as backup plan but they are not that differend from disk spindle.
