I'm looking to add a rear sway bar to my 1978 Delta 88 Holiday coupe. Any recommendations? Will any B-body sway bar work? My local salvage yard has several 1990's Buick Roadmasters in it. Will one of those work? I think that there's a 1985(?) Caprice in the yard, also. If it has a bar will it work? Or... should I just get an aftermarket one? Any suggestions?

Your car is a B-body. All 1977-1996 RWD B/C-body sedans (not wagons) use the same rear suspension. The bar fits.

 

Yesterday I just scored a rear sway bar, mounting brackets, and lower control arms. The bar is 1" in diameter. All are in excellent condition. I sanded and painted the sway bar, but just cleaned up the arms. I'll install them within the next week or so when the weather is a little warmer. It's only been in the low 20s this week but is expected to warm up to the mid 40s next week.

 

I was able to install the lower control arms and sway bar the other day. While I was at it I replaced the rear shocks. The shocks on the car were the original spiral ones from the factory! I saved the original parts. The bar looks good and it should help in the handling department,

FYI. For those who have cars that don't have rear sway bars available, I've found that Moog Cargo Coil rear springs help reduce body roll in the rear a bit. Not as good as a sway bar, but better than stock.

I don't think I'll be adding dual exhaust anytime soon, if at all. The exhaust system looks like it may be fairly new. Plus, a previous owner removed the cat and put a straight pipe in its place at some point. I'm sure that alone has freed up a few HP.
