Thoughts on this 350 engine

I came across a Craigslist ad for a running 1969 Oldsmobile engine and trans for 300.00
I have a 1969 Delta 88 with 2 bbl and thought I could upgrade to a 4 bbl setup and also use electronic ign.. Owner says it had 70,000 miles and smokes at startup
engine no starts with 395, so it is not a 455 unfortunately.

The EGR valve on the intake and HEI would make me think this is a '74 and later engine.

without seeing and hearing it run it is a core in my opinion. If you just stick it in a car and expect it to go, you are asking for problems. If you are going to rebuild it and put it in your car it looks like a good starting point and price. my .02

The top end, carb, electronic distributor, egr, looks very similar to my 75 350 before I rebuilt it. You would have to check the block # and heads # to see if it is a true 69 built motor.

A 1975 or newer, HEI, EGR etc. This could be a performance downgrade from your current motor due to emissions equipment and lower compression ratio, check it out well.

Good luck!!!
