Power Seat Problem 1985 Delta 88
I'm trying to remove a driver power seat complete and can't get the seat to motor forward in order to remove the second nuts from underneath the track at the rear. I have the 2 front nuts off and the inner 2 nuts off also at the rear, but how the hell can I remove the other nuts under the seat track in the rear? The car is being dismantled and I think the seat switch is inoperative. Or maybe applying power to which 2 seat switch wires would make the seat motor forward? I don't have a wiring diagram for this 1985.
And what about other options to accomplish forward movement. There must be a way to do this when the seat motor stops working.

I went through this with TWO 1985 D88s. In both cases the seat was in the worst possible location. It took a lot of swearing and a selection of box and open end wrenches, turning the nut one flat at a time (if you're lucky). Usually it was turn the nut as far as you can, flip the wrench, repeat. I couldn't disconnect the drive cables with the seat out of the car, much less reaching under it blind.
I assume the plastic coupler is bad?

Hey Joe, the coupler is good; I can't get the fwd-rev motor to run with alligator clips. What color wires operate that function? I agree getting at those other nuts will be a real PITA. The dealer mechanics must have had a way to accomplish this.

Well, the solution here was to remove the seat from the base first and then, as Joe pointed out, just get an open end wrench under the track and get that last 13mm nut off a little at a time. Getting the seat off the base was not extremely hard. There is a 13mm headed bolt at each of the 4 corners. A mirror is helpful and 13mm 1/4" drive sockets short and long are required. Without removing the seat itself first, removal is probably possible with determination and a good flashlight.
