Now What? 56 jetaway
For those of you following my efforts over the years to revive my Olds, Re: last post on the front motor mount /driveshaft problem, I have a new one. When I drained the oil from the Jetaway pan almost 14 years ago, I installed a new filter and gasket and then it sat. I recently installed it, put in new oil and fired up the engine. When I put it into gear, the rear wheels start to turn but the engine bogs down from idle and quits. The three most likely things I can think of are as follows.
1 ) wrong trans fluid. I used Pennzoil ATF that is a sub for Dextron 2 or 3 It sure seemed awfully thick when I put it in.
2 ) inproper adjustment, maybe I should disconnect the linkage and just try shifting the trans lever ?
3 ) something stuck, ie valves frozen
Comments and advice appreciated, Thanks Chuck

Could be many things but a stuck governor valve comes to mind first, that is if your throttle linkage is adjusted correctly. You would really need to setup the linkage from the top down and see if you have the transmission selecting the correct shift points, who knows you could be in neutral or park. After a slumber of 14 years no telling what could be stuck. I have found that a transmission fairs much better when left full of fluid than if it sets dry for a extended time....Just my thoughts...Tedd
