Okay guys, I dont want you to laugh but I tried something that I had never done before. Before when I would cruise I would reach temperatures of 195 to 200 using a 180 thermostat. At high speeds the same thing would happen. This weekend I sprayed water with a water hose through the radiator. A bunch of dirt and insects started coming out of it. I did this until the water came out clear. Yesterday I went cruising again and the temperature stayed at 180. Havent tried it at high speeds yet, but Ill post result later.

look at shaks442 clone pics of his engine/car under the Cutlass section. On the heater supply hose coming off the water pump you will see a fixture that allows you to flush the complete engine. If you haven't put a coolant additive in your water I suggest you put one of those in and flush the engine. You can buy them almost anywhere. Good preventive maintenance item.

I actually already added a coolant additive. Didnt drain the whole engine though just the radiator. Orange water came out. The additive I added supposedly restored antirust agents in the cooling system. Which additive do you recommend?

I can't as I just buy whatever catches my attention. Some guys buy "water wetter" and swear by it, others simply use a good "anti-freeze" (which I am sure you know is really a mis-nomer).
